Wow that's a long flight! I thought mine was bad to Amman from Chicago. So far, the longest flight I've heard of is a direct flight from London Gatwick to Sydney Australia. 22-26 hours depending on winds. The term is all yours to use :) I heard it years ago when I was hiking back in high school and it has stuck ever since. I spent 1 week in Chiang Mai, am not in Railay Beach near Ao Nong, but will be returning to Chiang Mai on Jan 5. I'll probably stay in or near Chiang Mai until my Thailand Visa runs out mid February. I'm gonna work at an elephant camp for 3 days, Tiger Kingdom for a day or two, and maybe take a Thai cooking course. I intend to get some massages, but probably won't take a massage course this time around.

I took a flight to Johannesburg SA and then on another to Cape Town. I did as you did. I think it was 18 hours to Joburg and another 4 to CT. Four movies and three naps. And lots of walking the aisles.

Loved the term "trail angel"! Gonna have to steal that one, k? Namaste. Are you doing some training in martial arts or massage while there? A perfect place to do that. How long are you in Chiang Mai?
